The International Halal Economic Conference (IHEC) 2026, organised by World Islamic Economic Development (WIED), is targeting over RM500 million in investment value and trade opportunities.
Chief Executive Officer of WIED, Adjunct Professor Dato' Seri Hj. Abdul Rani Hj. Osman, announced that IHEC 2026 will take place from 3 to 5 February at Hotel Tenera & Suites, Bandar Baru Bangi. The conference is expected to attract more than 300 local and international delegates representing 18 countries.
“IHEC 2026 brings together policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders from ASEAN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Europe, and emerging halal markets,” he stated during the official press conference held in Bangi.
The primary focus sectors for IHEC 2026 include food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, halal logistics, digital technology, and sustainability-driven industries.
“Overall, our targeted trade value exceeds RM500 million. This is not limited to transactions during the conference itself, but extends to sustained business engagements beyond the event,” he added.
Meanwhile, Patron and Chairman of the IHEC 2026 Organising Committee, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Yusof Haji Md Noor, emphasised that the conference will further strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global halal hub by showcasing the nation’s leadership in certification integrity, regulatory frameworks, and international cooperation.
“It will also position halal as a comprehensive economic and ethical framework,” he said.
IHEC 2026 continues to reinforce its role as a strategic platform driving cross-border collaboration, investment acceleration, and long-term growth within the global halal economy ecosystem.
